Shan Poornam Group, a Cenviro company, celebrated a major milestone today with a visit from the Penang Chief Minister to its integrated Environmentally Sound Management (ESM) Recovery and Refining Plant, Malaysia’s pioneer in integrated waste management.
Spanning 14.23 acres (619,858 sq ft) and employing 850 people, Shan Poornam Group embodies a commitment to sustainable infrastructure. The plant transforms waste into valuable recycled materials with a low carbon footprint, leveraging a research-driven approach that supports a circular economy and fosters an eco-friendly ecosystem. Known for handling diverse industrial waste types, including e-waste, the ESM Plant stands as a national example of responsible waste management.
YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, stated, “Shan Poornam Group will play a key role in Penang’s vision for sustainable development. Together, we will continue to build a Penang that is green, responsible, and globally competitive. This is our shared journey, and I am confident that we can make Penang a leader in sustainable development and responsible industry, supporting a brighter future for all.”
Today also marks the official launch of our inaugural Sustainability Report (SR) for 2023, which complies with Bursa Malaysia standards and aligns with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. Building on the foundation set by our initial report in 2019/2020, this release highlights continuous advancements in our sustainable business practices. Looking ahead, our 2024 Sustainability Report will fully adhere to both Bursa and GRI Standards, further reinforcing our commitment to transparency and accountability.

The CLQ is designed to provide quality living standards for foreign workers, accommodating up to 8,000 individuals and aligning with Penang’s vision for ethical, community-focused workforce policies. With its vision of “Building Communities, Empowering Workforce,” the CLQ will provide a secure and comfortable living environment that supports worker productivity and well-being.
The CLQ facilities include:
