PENANG, 7 MAY 2026 — InvestPenang is proud to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Loo Lee Lian, has been conferred the Honourable Award at the SEMI Night of Leaders Dinner & Awards, organised by SEMICON Southeast Asia (SEMICON SEA).

The award recognises her significant contributions to the growth of Penang’s semiconductor ecosystem and her role in positioning the state as a key hub within the global semiconductor value chain.

In its introduction at the ceremony, SEMI highlighted Penang’s remarkable transformation from a small island state off the coast of Malaysia into one of the world’s leading semiconductor centres — a journey built on sustained collaboration between industry, government, and ecosystem partners. The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Sim Tze Tzin.

Over the past 15 years, Dato’ Loo has been instrumental in engaging global investors and advancing Penang’s investment proposition. Through her leadership at InvestPenang, she has fostered strategic partnerships and supported the expansion of high-value industries, contributing to the state’s economic growth and competitiveness.

A commemorative video presented during the event featured testimonials from industry partners and stakeholders, underscoring the strength of collaboration that has shaped Penang’s success. The presentation culminated in the conferment of the Honourable Award.

Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Mr Chow Kon Yeow, congratulated Dato’ Loo on the recognition, stating, “Dato’ Loo Lee Lian has been a driving force behind Penang’s success in the semiconductor industry. Her leadership has delivered real results and strengthened our global standing. This recognition at SEMICON SEA is fully deserved.”

In response, Dato’ Loo said, “This recognition reflects the collective efforts of many — from industry partners to colleagues and stakeholders — who have contributed to Penang’s journey. We remain committed to strengthening our position as a leading hub for semiconductor innovation and investment.”
