PENANG, 6 OCT 2026 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and InvestPenang delegates have returned from the investment and trade mission to the United States from 28 September to 5 October, organised by InvestPenang. The mission aimed to renew ties and strengthen relationships with the American investors in Penang, encourage the expansion of their Penang sites, and attract new investments to the state.

During the meetings, discussion centred on the unprecedented momentum of the global AI super cycle and its transformative impact across industries. Companies highlighted significantly extended customer order visibility, with multi-year commitments increasingly becoming the norm, alongside promising growth expectations. These factors are driving companies to reassess their requirements for engineering talent, test capacity and supply chain resources to support the next phase of expansion.

In response to these emerging needs, the Penang delegation highlighted two key initiatives — Penang Silicon Design @5km+ and the Malaysia ATE Campus — strengthening the state’s integrated ecosystem across design, manufacturing and advanced test capabilities. The delegation also highlighted Penang’s continued investments in infrastructure, connectivity, utilities and talent to support the next phase of industrial growth.

During the mission trip, the Chief Minister and InvestPenang delegates participated in a total of 16 official strategic meetings and site visits in San Jose, engaging with leading technology companies, advanced manufacturing innovators, and senior industry leaders across the design and engineering services and global services sectors. The delegation engaged with companies and stakeholders, including Agilent, Altera, AMD, Applied Materials, Cadence, Coherent, Intel, Intuitive, Lam Research, Micron, Sandisk, SEMI Headquarters and Bank of America, among others.

The engagements and feedback gathered will further inform Penang’s efforts to strengthen its ecosystem, respond to the evolving needs of global companies and position the state for the next phase of high-value growth. Through continued collaboration with international partners, Penang remains committed to building a resilient and competitive investment environment that creates long-term value for both the state and its global business community.
