WHAT’S HAPPENING

View major news and upcoming events to explore Penang’s thriving key industries.

PANTAI Hospital Penang has become the first hospital in the state to launch a Family Rewards Club programme to enhance the healthcare needs of people irrespective of age.

Its chief executive officer Pan Wen Lek said the club, touted to be the second only in peninsular Malaysia after the one at the Pantai Hospital in Sungai Petani, is open to all age groups with no membership fee.

“Members can benefit from various services including one free health screening package worth RM128, free home transportation services within a 20km radius, home care nursing services, vaccination reminders and online access to making appointments and viewing health screening reports.

“Under the Family Rewards Club, we have also introduced two new services namely the Home Care Services and our new Vaccine Centre.

“We are the first hospital in Penang to offer both services,” he said in his speech at the recent programme launching at Pantai Hospital in Jalan Tengah, Bayan Baru.

Club members are also eligible to earn reward points which can be used to redeem pharmaceutical products.

Pan said it was part of their effort to instil awareness on the importance of good health by giving members access to a host of benefits and services that would help with their health needs.

He believes the programme would ease the management of the families’ healthcare needs and easier access to appropriate medical attention.

Pan said the hospital also focuses on two fields of excellence which is stroke and cardiac, both of which have a comprehensive specialist consultant team.

He added that with the advantage of being near the Penang International Airport, the hospital also hopes to tap into the medical tourism sector aggressively this year.

Also present was Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, who commended the hospital’s initiative in providing better healthcare management and holistic health service to the people in Penang, especially those living in the south-west district.
