November 29, 2023 – INV New Material Technology (M) Sdn Bhd marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony at the Penang Technology Park @Bertam in Penang, Malaysia. The ceremony was honored by the presence of key dignitaries, including the Right Honourable Mr. Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, Mr. Zhou Youbin, Consul General of the People’s Republic China in Penang, and Mr. Sivasuriyamoorthy Sundara Raja, Deputy CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Penang Technology Park (PTP) @Bertam, situated in the town of Bertam in Penang, Malaysia, enjoys a strategic location in close proximity to Permatang Sungai Dua and North Seberang Perai. Positioned just 23 kilometers from the North Seberang Perai Port, providing a convenient 30-minute drive, and 42 kilometers from the airport, the park is well-connected. In the past year, the PTP@Bertam has undergone significant expansion, capturing the interest of foreign enterprises exploring investment and manufacturing possibilities, supported by the robust assistance and policy advocacy of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).

INV New Material Technology (M) Sdn Bhd is the first battery separator factory established within ASEAN. The project, with a total investment of MYR 6.4 billion (constructed in two phases), aims to produce 4 billion square meters of wet-process separators and coated separators annually. The project covers an area of over 66 acres, with a total built-up area exceeding 400,000 square meters. After reaching full production capacity, INV New Material Technology (M) Sdn Bhd will become the largest low-carbon separator production base in ASEAN, contributing significantly to the global new energy industry.

During the meeting on November 28, Chairman Chen XiuFeng and his delegations were warmly received by the Chief Minister of Penang, Right Honourable Mr. Chow Kon Yeow at the Amari Hotel in the Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Right Honourable Mr. Chow Kon Yeow emphasised on Penang’s 50 years of industrial excellence and its conducive ecosystem, and committed to uphold Penang, the Silicon Valley of the East as a sustainable investment location.

Chairman Chen XiuFeng expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Chow and, at the same time, conveyed that Penang, as one of Malaysia’s most crucial gateways to the world, is destined to play a significant role in the country’s future development.
