Global Business Services (GBS), ICT & Software Development, and Creative Multimedia have been identified as the 3 focus areas in creating the Technology Hub in Penang.

Global Business Services (GBS)

GBS is centralising work from any global location to optimise cost and streamline processes. This includes outsourcing where companies assign their support functions to third-party service providers.

Penang is the recipient of the 2nd largest principal hub investment with a value of RM4.1 billion after Kuala Lumpur; approximately 12,000 high-value jobs created.

State policies are focused on incubating cultural creativity in order for this sector to be an active player in the economy and to encourage innovation. The Penang2030 Vision also includes the development of the creative industry as one of its main strategic initiatives under the economic transformation thrust.
