Penang, 12 April 2025 – InvestPenang and the Penang Global Business Services (GBS) Focus Group successfully organised the “Penang GBS GO AI Discovery Race”, attracting over 300 participants from the GBS community, multinational corporations (MNCs) and students from the institutions of higher learning. Held in the Bayan Lepas area, the event offered an exciting and educational platform aimed at promoting greater awareness of Penang’s thriving GBS & IC Design ecosystem and growing capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) through interactive learning and industry engagement.

The 4-kilometre race was officially flagged off by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow at Food Bayana, Bayan Lepas. Featuring eight pitstops, the race was supported by leading GBS companies including AMD, Citigroup, Clarivate, Infineon, Motorola Solutions, Toll Global, UST Global, and Wilmar, each hosting interactive booths to showcase their operations, innovations, and presence in Penang’s growing GBS & IC Design landscape.

This race offered participants a unique opportunity to engage in an informative, tech-driven adventure designed to deepen understanding of the thriving GBS & IC Design ecosystem in Penang. At each pitstop, they tackled quizzes and fun activities curated by the participating companies—encouraging active engagement and offering valuable insights into the business operations and AI technologies shaping the GBS & IC Design sector.

Beyond the race, the event also fostered meaningful connections between the industry and academia, paving the way for talent development, knowledge sharing, and future career opportunities in the digital economy.
