Angkasa-X, E&E Companies to Bolster Cooperation in Space Technology
Feb 21 – Angkasa-X Innovation Sdn Bhd, a technological-social inclusion company, has inked Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with nine Penang electrical and electronics (E&E) companies to bolster cross-sector cooperation in space technology (space tech).
The nine companies are HP Malaysia Manufacturing, Texchem (M) Sdn Bhd, Swift Bridge Technologies Sdn Bhd, Cortex Robotics Sdn Bhd, Mechmodule Technology Sdn Bhd, Lingtec Instruments Sdn Bhd, GSH Precision Technology, AzPower Sdh Bhd and LBSB Sdn Bhd.
Angkasa-X chairman Dr Sean Seah said the companies, including Angkasa-X, are collectively the founding members of the Malaysia SpaceTech Hub, which aims to gather like-minded manufacturing industry players and pave the way for other sectors of the industry to collaborate and share their expertise.
“This will be the start of the satellite manufacturing and data-driven sectors working together in support of the government’s mandate towards the National Space Policy 2030,” he said during the signing of the MoUs, witnessed by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow here today.
Seah said while the government has expressed its commitment to roll out the National Space Policy 2030, the industry is looking into reducing production costs, developing high-end technology infrastructure and spurring local industry’s capabilities.
He said the E&E companies in Penang will form the backbone of space tech in the country and will be working closely with Angkasa-X to develop and enhance the space tech ecosystem.
“Each company will bring its expertise and collaborate in realising the nation’s space tech aspirations,” he said.
