CHIEF Minister Lim Guan Eng has suggested ‘Cun-nya Pulau Pinang’ (Penang is gorgeous) for the state’s tourism slogan for 2018.
Although it has yet to be unveiled, Lim said the slogan would be in line with Penang’s achievement as not only a clean state, but a greener, healthier and safer state that is well-known worldwide.
“The biggest achievement for Penang is when the city is recognised as one of the cleanest in Asean countries.
“Congratulations Penang! It is only fitting that our tourism theme is ‘Cun-nya Pulau Pinang’,” he said at the flagging-off of ‘I Love Penang Walk 2018’ in Beach Street yesterday.
Although Lim did not elaborate the meaning of ‘Cun-nya Pulau Pinang’, the word ‘cun’ is Malay for gorgeous or pretty, which literally means ‘Penang is gorgeous’.
Earlier, some 7,000 participants took part in the 5km walk held within the heritage enclave of George Town.
Also present were Penang Island City Council mayor Yew Tung Seang, secretary Addnan Mohd Razali and Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang.
Note: The Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) has declared George Town, Penang as one of the cleanest cities in the ASEAN region back in January 2018.
