Announced at KL20@Penang 2026 – Silicon Surge, Penang Silicon Design @5km+ (PSD@5KM+) Campus II adds 70,000 sq ft at GBS@Mayang, which already houses several IC design companies, providing capacity for more IC design companies and incubatees to establish and scale. This builds on the 27,000 sq ft incubation space at GBS TechSpace, which is currently fully occupied by seven incubatees.

Alongside, the Penang Silicon Advancement Co-Fund (SACF), a strategic matching fund under PSD@5KM+, will support eligible incubatees in accelerating the development, commercialisation and scaling of silicon products. This fund is allocated from the existing funding provided by the Penang State Government and the Ministry of Economy.

Together, these initiatives strengthen Penang’s IC design ecosystem, build the next generation of homegrown semiconductor capabilities, and support the nation’s aspiration to move from “Made in Malaysia” to “Made by Malaysia.”
