GEORGE TOWN: A US based multinational engineering and manufacturing services company Benchmark Electronics today commemorated the expansion of its third facility in Penang.
Vice president and general manager Dr Bala Murugan said the grand opening ceremony marks the new milestone that the company has achieved in the state.
He said the latest facility which was operational last year, is the only Benchmark facility in the world to provide the full range of its solutions at one location.
He said the growth of the company has been made possible by the conducive, business friendly and efficient environment that the state administration has provided for the company.
“It’s competent, accountable and transparent governance has enabled MNCs like us to operate effectively in Penang without fear or favour,” he said during his welcoming speech at its Free Industrial Zone phase 4 premise in Bayan Lepas.
He also added that since 2007 the company has invested a total of RM300 million in Penang and provides business opportunities amounting to RM250 million per year to the local supply base.
The company also unveiled its new company logo for the Precision Technologies Sector of its business.
Held at its Penang FIZ phase 4 premise, the event was officiated by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, and attended by Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, Deputy Chief Minister 2 P. Ramasamy and Benchmark President and CEO Paul Tufano.
Benchmark began its operation in Malaysia in 2007, through the acquisition of a former Quantum facility.
Benchmark Electronics Inc is an EMS, ODM, and OEM company based in Angleton, TX in Greater Houston. It provides contract manufacturing services.
