PENANG will embrace new workforce models and technology to keep ahead of the competition.
A new portfolio called Digital Transformation will be created under the Chief Minister’s office to enhance the momentum under Industry Revolution 4.0.
“This is to increase our competitiveness on existing technological platforms and prepare the state for the industrial revolution in the international arena,” said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in his New Year’s Day message.
He said the industrial sector had performed well in the first half of 2018 with total investment of RM1.98bil.
“We expect further improvement in the world economy which would give Penang a quantum leap in foreign direct investment,” he said.
Chow said the state’s Vision 2030 would be the main thrust of the government in the next 10 years, emphasising family development.
“No area on the island and the mainland will be left out. An equal and balanced progress will be the objective.
“In 2010, the state launched the ‘Cleaner, Greener Penang’ initiative with the objective of making Penang green and clean.
“All this effort will continue to create an environment-friendly lifestyle for the people.”
Chow said all this could be achieved as the people had given the mandate to Pakatan Harapan with the trust that the country would be back on the right track.
