PENANG, 3 DECEMBER 2025 \u2013 <\/strong>Intel Corporation\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tan Lip-Bu, had a meeting with the Chief Minister of Penang, The Right Honourable Mr Chow Kon Yeow, at the Chief Minister\u2019s office in Komtar today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Intel\u2019s presence in Penang for over 50 years has played a pivotal role in transforming Malaysia into one of the world\u2019s most competitive semiconductor hubs. The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation to Intel for its long-standing commitment, which has driven growth in Malaysia and Penang, nurtured a strong talent base, developed a resilient supply chain, and established a globally recognized back-end engineering ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the meeting, InvestPenang presented <\/span>several potential areas of strategic collaboration and sought Intel\u2019s continued leadership and support to strengthen Penang\u2019s position as the state transition into critical areas of advanced packaging and next generation technologies. <\/b>Intel fully supports the state\u2019s vision and has been championing the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) as a catalyst to position Malaysia at the forefront of Advanced Packaging and IC Design. This alignment of Malaysia\u2019s national policy with Intel\u2019s roadmap reinforces shared commitment to developing talent, driving R&D innovation, and strengthening supply chain resilience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Intel expressed their appreciation to the Chief Minister for the unwavering support of the Penang state government and the relevant agencies. Their investment in the Advanced Packaging Plant in Penang has achieved a capital expenditure of RM12 billion in infrastructure and is now 99% complete.<\/span><\/p>\n

Present in the meeting were the Right Honourable Mr Chow Kon Yeow, the Chief Minister of Penang; Dato\u2019 Loo Lee Lian, CEO of InvestPenang; Mr Tan Lip-Bu, CEO of Intel Corporation; Ms AK Chong, VP, Foundry Manufacturing and Supply Chain, and Managing Director, Intel Malaysia; Mr Suresh Kumar Dass, VP, Design Engineering and GM, Malaysia Design Centre; along with InvestPenang and Intel officers.<\/span><\/p>\n
