Hilton finally sets foot in Penang with premium resort<\/h1>\n

That changed today with the launch of the American hotel chain\u2019s first-ever property on the island, the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton.<\/p>\n

It is located at the Miami Beach in Batu Ferringhi.<\/p>\n

Also, unlike the DoubleTree hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Melaka, the property in Penang is the first of Hilton\u2019s premium brand resorts in Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng thanked the Hilton group for finally making a presence in Penang, saying it was good timing with the rising popularity of Penang as a tourist destination among foreigners as well as Malaysians.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is truly an exciting day for Penang. Of all the beautiful states in Malaysia, we are proud to be home to the country\u2019s very first DoubleTree Resort.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is timely that this property will also be Penang\u2019s first Hilton-branded property.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cMy question is, what made you wait so long to get here?\u201d Lim asked in jest.<\/p>\n

The CM and media were then given a tour of the 316-room resort and its grand ballroom.<\/p>\n

Hilton Malaysia\u2019s regional general manager Jamie Mead said the opening of the hotel was an important milestone for the DoubleTree brand, with its premium resort entering the Malaysian market.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Penang being a popular short- and long-stay holiday destination for its culture and cuisine, which is a big hit among local and foreign tourists, we are confident our guests will be captivated with our new offering,\u201d Mead said.<\/p>\n
