International software company Luxoft sets up office in Penang<\/h1>\n

It will invest RM235mil investment in human capital and technology for the first five years.<\/p>\n

The locals will be able to benefit from the expected 500 job opportunities in IT and software development engineers that the company will create.\u00a0Luxoft president and chief executive officer Dmitriy Loschinin said Penang was a strategic choice for the global brand.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope to continue to expand our footprint globally, and specifically in Asia Pacific.<\/p>\n

\u201cPenang has been chosen for its excellent balance of infrastructure, educational systems, government support and strong local talent pool,\u201d he said during the launch of Luxoft\u2019s Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Wawasan Open University in Penang yesterday.<\/p>\n

One of the first projects it will be working on is an infotainment system with Clarion (M) Sdn Bhd for the automotive industry.<\/div>\n

\u201cHaving Luxoft here is a good opportunity for our local engineers to learn and train under one of the best automotive software companies in the world, it is an opportunity that is hard to come by here,\u201d said Clarion managing director Tan Teong Khin.<\/p>\n

Also present was Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation chief operating officer Datuk Ng Wan Peng, Deputy Chief Minster 1 Datuk Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon and Invest Penang assistant general manager Lee So Cheran.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state is grateful for Luxoft\u2019s confidence towards Penang and its IT scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cPenang\u2019s IT sector has 50 global business services companies providing more than 8,000 high income jobs to locals, serving both regional and global markets,\u201d he said in his opening address.<\/p>\n

The company develops its solutions and delivers its services from 32 centres worldwide operated a team of 12,000 employees across 39 offices in 19 countries.<\/p>\n

Besides Penang, there are three other offices in the Asia-Pacific region \u2013 Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore and Sydney.<\/p>\n

Also launched was Luxoft\u2019s \u201cAutomotive Software University\u201d in Penang. The three-month programme that uses the company\u2019s automotive knowledge seeks to train locals and develop engineers in the automotive sector.<\/p>\n
