Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said phase one of the construction would involve a 250,000 sq ft facility, which is targeted to begin operation in the first quarter of 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe development is expected to increase Hotayi\u2019s total employment to 1,450 jobs including new high-income jobs in mechanical and technical engineering from 450 now,\u201d he said at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new plant.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Lim said the new facility at Batu Kawan incorporate eco-friendly and energy-conserving elements, in line with the state’s vision of a cleaner and greener Penang.<\/p>\n

The re-investment would also improve the eco-system in the industrial park as it would benefit the local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), he said.<\/p>\n

Hotayi, established since 1992, has been in Penang for the past 25 years.<\/p>\n
