October 26, 2024 \u2013 <\/strong>Amphenol DC Electronics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Amphenol), a global provider of engineering, design, and manufacturing services, celebrated the grand opening of its new 70,000 sq. ft facility in Penang today, with the potential for an additional 60,000 sq. ft in Phase 2. This expansion significantly increases the company’s footprint in the region to over 130,000 sq. ft, demonstrating its commitment to growth and innovation in Malaysia while greatly enhancing its capacity and capabilities.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of the facility was attended by YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, Mr. Muhammad Ghaddaffi bin Sardar Mohamed, Director of MIDA Penang, management officials from Amphenol, key customers, suppliers, local dignitaries, and community partners.<\/p>\n

YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang stated, \u201cPenang, frequently referred to as the \u2018Silicon Valley of the East,\u2019 boasts over 50 years of industrial development and is a leading hub for electronics and electrical (E&E) investments in the region. Therefore, Amphenol DC Electronics’ investment in the state highlights Penang\u2019s global reputation as a sustainable and attractive destination for business growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MIDA congratulated the company, affirming, \u201cI extend my warmest congratulations to Amphenol on the launch of their new manufacturing facility in Malaysia. This is a positive development that aligns perfectly with our New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and our National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS). Located at Penang Science Park, the new facility equipped for Cable Assembly and Box Build, will serve as a major hub for manufacturing, creating 300 jobs and fostering local talent in Malaysia’s semiconductor industry.
