Penang, February 17, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Benchmark Penang, a global leader in engineering, design, and manufacturing services, today held a groundbreaking ceremony for PT4 facility which is also their 5th<\/sup> facility here in Penang. This new facility is located next to its existing Benchmark Penang Cassia, Batu Kawan Industrial Park and is expected to be completed by June 2026.<\/p>\n

With an initial investment value of USD25 million, this state-of-the-art two-storey building will feature office space, a production area with cleanrooms, complex machining, and powder painting, as well as a multi-story car park. With an additional 215,000 square feet of manufacturing space, Benchmark\u2019s total footprint in Penang will exceed 720,000 square feet, reinforcing its capacity to meet the growing demand for Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) manufacturing in the region.<\/p>\n

Deputy Chief Minister II YB Jagdeep Singh Deo stated, \u201cThe groundbreaking of the new facility marks a significant milestone for Benchmark Penang, further reinforcing Penang as a preferable choice of location to expand its operations. I am confident that Benchmark Penang will be able to leverage on Penang\u2019s robust industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce, and strategic connectivity to continue its growth and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPT4 will be a state-of-the-art 2 story building with multi story car parks and many other inhouse facilities. Built at the cost of RM 110 million over a period of 18 months, this facility will add a further 215,000 square feet of manufacturing space for us and provide employment opportunities for 500+ employees from all levels of work over the next five years. Once this facility is operational, Benchmark will have more than 720,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Penang with the ability to produce up to RM4.5 billion annual revenue,\u201d Dato\u2019 Dr Balamurugan Sinnasamy, Group President, Benchmark Precision Technologies, said.<\/p>\n

This expansion will also enhance Benchmark\u2019s capabilities in complex module assembly and high-level system integration for leading semiconductor WFE manufacturers. Additionally, the new facility will provide space for large-form-factor precision machining and a state-of-the-art automated powder coat line, further strengthening Benchmark\u2019s position as a Tier 1 contract manufacturer in the region.<\/p>\n

The expansion is expected to create more than 500 job opportunities over the next five years, contributing to local talent development and economic growth.<\/p>\n
